This lavishly appointed and meticulously restored Edwardian residence is set on 1800 square metres of surrounding grounds and gardens. Purposely built in the Federation Queen Anne style circa 1906, Varenna was originally the home of Miss Matilda Cowper, the grand-daughter of Anglican Arch-Deacon William Cowper, who came from England to the colony in 1809 at the request of Reverend Samuel Marsden, and later became the first arch-deacon of the Cumberland parish. Her father was the Very Reverend William Macquarie Cowper (Dean of Sydney) and her uncle, Sir Charles Cowper, was five times Premier of New South Wales.

Once inside, experience the warmth and elegance of Varenna. Complimentary wine, port and chocolates await you alongside the roaring gas-log fire in the dining room.
